Make your own one-of-a-kind chic cell phone purse with easy to follow instructions, delivered straight to your inbox in pdf .

Use your favorite colors to make these chic cell phone purses. Original models were made using two strands of cotton thread. However, project can also be made by using DK weight yarn, such as Catania (details below), or other yarn that will work up to gauge.

The unique flap construction is what sets it apart from other crocheted cell phone purses. Tweed effect on the flap is achieved by combining two colors.

You can choose from among different carrying styles: a necklace cord, a loop, or a handle. For closure, follow instructions to make a button loop and a crocheted button, or just sew hook-and-loop tape (or Velcro) on both sides.

Size:approx. 2 5/8 inches wide and 4 3/4 inches tall


Materials: Cotton thread, size 8 or size 10, color A and color B, each color approx. 20gms or about 40 meters

Crochet hook, 2.5mm. or size to obtain gauge

Optional: crochet hook 1.5mm for button cover

These cell phone purses were made with Cannon cotton thread, size 8, worked with two strands held together.

Materials used: for base color, Cannon MB076; Blue purse: Cannon MB061, Yellow purse: Cannon MB113, Red purse: Cannon MB104

Photo below shows project using DK weight yarn: Catania, in beige and dark brown. Tweed effect on the flap is achieved by separating the strands of about 4 meters each color of the 4-ply Catania. Then combine 2 plies of each color and crochet together for the flap.



Tricolor Coin Purse - this is made using two colors of thread. Same style of construction as the chic cell phone purses. Model shown here was made using Cannon size 8 thread in mustard yellow (MB113)and rust (MB076)
